On the night of Saturday, June 13, 2020, Katherine Williams-Dunning, daughter of country music legend Hank Williams Jr., died in a tragic car accident in Henry County, Tennessee. She was 27 years old.
What happened
Katherine (“Katie” to her family) was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe towing a boat southbound on Highway 79, near Antioch Road. At approximately 7:44 p.m., her vehicle crossed the median separating northbound and southbound lanes, rolled over, crossed into the opposite lanes, and came to rest on the shoulder.
Her husband, Tyler Dunning (29), was in the passenger seat. He was badly hurt and was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. At the time, he was “awake and responsive,” although the full extent of his injuries had not been disclosed.
